Supergroup FANOMM, whose debut single “#1 SPOT”, a collaboration with Funk Icon Bootsy Collins, officially announced the band’s arrival as a sonic force to be reckoned with, goes Head to Head against the music industry’s hottest artists with the release of their latest album VERSES. The super-album is schedule for release on Tuesday, February 11, 2014.
With VERSES, FANOMM offers listeners remixed, refixed, and retooled renditions of today’s hottest hits from a Whos Who list of today’s top artists including: Drake, Justin Timberlake, Jay-Z, Rihanna, Youngblood Hawke, Capital Cities, Ellie Golding, Zedd, and Pharrell.
It’s been a busy year for FANOMM, who most recently headlined the opening night of the 2013 Miller Music Tour, after a stint on the road with Mother Monster herself, Lady Gaga. FANOMM served as one of two official featured performers, along with YOUNGSTAR label mate and Gaga Protégé BREEDLOVE, for the Born This Way Ball Tour After parties. One look at FANOMM in action on stage is all it takes to understand why brands like Bentley Motors, Paper Magazine, Cole Haan, and Miller Beer have tapped the band to sonically support their marketing & promotional efforts and campaigns. “VERSES was created to be performed LIVE,” says bandmember J-Cast, “We get a kick out of surprising fans with our versions of their favorite songs.”
“This is not some album of covers,” says Youngstar mbc Founding Principal John Frazier, “This is masterpiece of exquisitely remixed, lyrically reinterpreted, and sonically enhanced joints guaranteed to not only destroy the dance floor, but fulfill FANOMM’s mission of making each song B.T.T.O (Better Than the Original).” “These artists and songs are some of our favorites in the game today,” says Chew Fu, “I can’t think of a better way to honor them, then to touch their joints as we did and pour our collective soul into each song.”
On VERSES, all songs were stripped of their original music and remixed/reproduced by Chew Fu and his team of heavy hitting producers, collectively known as TEAM YOUNGSTAR:
• PVH Remix (Justin Timberlake, Ciara, Rihanna, Gossip, Far East Movement, Pink)
• Frank de Lange Remix (Ellie Golding, Youngblood Hawke, Zedd, Lloyd, Taio Cruz)
• Lotus Dragon (Drake, Ciara, Captial Cities, Wallpaper, Chic, Sugar Hill Gang)
Thereafter, original song lyrics were restyled and performed by FANOMM, who also added VERSES of their own to each song, giving the album’s title a double meaning.
“I think we just changed the game with these remixed covers; there is nothing like it out there,” says bandmember Substantial, who adds, “We should’ve named the album RE-COVER, cause I’m not sure the industry will ever, after they get a load of these joints.”
FANOMM is comprised of CHEW FU(Mega-Producer/Serial-Fixer/Super-DJ whose production credits include Lady Gaga, Jay-Z, Selena Gomez, Miley Cyrus, Rihanna, Kanye West, and Kings of Leon), J-CAST (Future-Perfect singer/songwriter and the son of Funk-Soul-Legend Jimmy Castor), and SUBSTANTIAL (critically acclaimed Maryland Mic ripper and arguably the most complete/versatile MC in the game).
