Substantial
’s resume speaks for itself after more than 10 years releasing music individually, as part of various stellar collectives, and touring China, Japan, and everywhere inbetween.  Earlier today,Potholes In My Blog debuted “Check My Resume”, a track off his upcoming third solo LP, Home Is Where The Art Is, which finds the MC “from the County where the Prince is a G” bringing you up to speed on his CV.

Team player or soloist, Substantial is getting his voice heard and spreading his music the globe over. Substantial has a field day with the knocking, driving beat of “Check My Resume,” courtesy of fellow DMV resident Oddisee. With a dexterous tongue and a relentless flow, Substantial recounts his drive through past accomplishments with QN5, Nujabes, Tonedeff and Marcus D.  DJ Jav, Substantial’s official turntable technician, blesses the track with timely scratches.  Sub’s flow is as determined as his hustle.Home Is Where The Art Is drops September 4th on Mello Music Group. The album is executive produced by fellow MMG artist Oddisee, adding an extra layer of talent and focus to the project that also features additional production from M-Phazesand Eric Lau among others.

Peace World. For the 3rd installment of #FAMonWAX we have Mr. “No spaces” himself… Tonedeff. I remember Tone passing me this joint at QN5 Manor back in the day and being instantly blown away by the photography by our boy Fubz. The concept alone is genius and the song is murder.  Politics is quite honestly one of all-time my favorites by Tone. Peep the breakdown below.

Pick up the song HEREAlso, check out his most recent project: Peter Anthony Red – The Projectionist

Enjoy. Stay in Peace.

P.S. Home Is Where The Art – Sept. 4, 2012 – Pre-order Today!

Peace World. So I wake up yesterday and check my email and notice a few interactions for our Bop Alloy twitter account. To my surprise, I see the following tweet from none other than Vogue Magazine

Then I see this awesome playlist with music from David Bowie, Foo Fighters, R.E.M, The Rolling Stones, The Temptations, Vince Guaraldi Trio & More which shares the same name as our song Save the Day which they just so happened to throw in there as well!!! Pretty damn awesome. Needless to say, we’re very appreciative. Thank you Freddie Campion & Vogue Magazine.

Check out the playlist below.

Enjoy! Stay in Peace.

LISTEN TO KYOSi “Gravity” feat. Substantial [DOWNLOAD]

Peace World. With the release of my 3rd solo album less than two months away, it’s safe to say you can expect a lot of surprises around the corner. Here’s one of many.  Check out Gravity, a new collaboration with “Indie-Pop” band, KYOSi. The topic is definitely something a lot of us can relate to. Take a listen. Lyrics available on their Bandcamp page.

KYOSi make their recorded debut with the self-titled EP; a fusion of live instrumentation and digital drums/instruments, and samples. With their blend of unique sounds and vibes, KYOSi aims to create something original and inspiring. Enjoy.

Check out their music video as well, LTGB. <- One of my favs from the EP.

Stay in Peace. Think Different.

via Instagram http://instagr.am/p/NDC5iWxO-p/Peace World. Here’s the latest edition of FAMonWAX series: Funky DL’s Loud Noise of Silence.
Nujabes actually gave this piece of wax to me the same night he gave me a copy of his 1st single with L Universe Ain’t No Mystery.

I actually didn’t meet Funky DL until 04′ or 05′ in passing, heading in to Jun’s place. It wasn’t until after he passed away that DL and I got a chance to really chat. If you’ve never met the guy, besides being a great MC, he’s arguably one of the nicest brother’s I’ve had the pleasure of working with and… he got beats! Check out his old single below, which the 12″ also featured a remix from Nujabes.

For those of you who’ve been sleep for the last 6 months & missed our two collabs, check out Night On The Town produced by my Bop Alloy partner, Marcus D and Sunchild produced by Aussie beatsmith, P.R

Enjoy. Stay in Peace.

Peace World. So this is the 1st of a few flicks I’m taking of vinyl I own of friends/associates of mine. I’m calling the series “FAM on Wax”.The 1st installment of FOW is the 1st piece of vinyl Nujabes (RIP) ever gave me of his music. It was a collab between him & my friend,  L Universe (better known as Verbal of M-Flo). Why I have not framed this yet, I have no idea. I remember how proud Jun was when he gave this to me.

What I’m curious to know is how many of you have this or knew of it’s existence? Definitely a rare joint and it’s the very first Hyde Out Productions release.

Stay in Peace & stay tuned for more.
